During a time where school leaders and educators are tasked with responsibility to evolve education practices to address the needs of students impacted by global pandemic resources that allow us to take a collaborative and innovative approach to education. Transcend Education and the Christensen Institute, in partnership with education organizations, recently launched The Canopy Project, a free-to-use website that reveals trends in innovative approaches to student-centered learning during COVID-19.

This portal is a search engine for those looking to understand how schools are implementing innovative approaches to learning during COVID-19. Resources include examples of restorative practices, project based learning, and competency-based learning and has a database of 90 different practices that schools or systems can adapt. Resources are also searchable by governance type, demographics, grade bands, size, and more making examples from communities that work best for you readily accessible.

Visit the site to learn more about the project and how your school can get involved and contribute to resources. https://canopyschools.transcendeducation.org/

Transcend Education’s work with school communities and the larger ecosystem is guided by five fundamental beliefs: all children have infinite potential; to realize this potential, we must reimagine “schooling” as we know it; the work is most successful when pursued through a rigorous, community-driven R&D process grounded in equity; while never easy, innovation is absolutely possible, accelerating progress requires strong local leadership, surrounded by a conducive ecosystem.

The BELE Network is dedicated to reimagining our inequitable school system that has failed too many for too long, and is committed to transforming our classrooms into learning environments that nurture the intellectual, emotional and cultural growth of all students — especially students of color.
